Antimicrobic Activity of IPPU Padang (Ammannia octandra L.f.) Leaves Ethanol Extract against Skin Pathogenic Microbials

Ippu Padang plant (Ammannia octandra L.f.) belongs to the family of Lythraceae, a hardy that can grow height 50 cm. According previous research, leaves contain glycosides, alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins. The presence alkaloid compounds, tannins is predicted have potential as an antifungal agent against fungi antibacterial agent. This research used experimental method. steps included collecting material, identification, processing plants into Simplicia powder, phytochemical screening extracting by maceration method using ethanol solvent, activity test agar diffusion determination inhibition diameter leaf extract. results showed ippu contained secondary metabolites, namely flavonoids, anthraquinone tannins, saponins steroids. also revealed concentration with largest inhibitory was 400 mg/ml, 12.4 mm Candida albicans, 17.46 Dermacoccus nishinomiyaensis bacteria, 18.53 Micrococcus luteus 19.38 Pseudomonas aeruginosa 17.71 Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. It concluded extract could inhibit growth bacteria nishinomiyaensis, luteus, epidermidis.
